We mourn the loss of two civil rights icons and Atlanta legends. John Lewis and C.T. Vivian gave themselves completely to the cause of justice for all, and their legacies will live on for generations to come. Thank you both for your leadership and sacrifice. May you rest in peace as we carry on the fight for justice.

The economic toll created by Covid-19 is still placing many of our neighbors at risk of being evicted. With the increased spread of the virus, it's more crucial than ever to ensure that our neighbors don't end up homeless on the streets, but instead have healthy and safe shelter. Please consider supporting the Eviction Relief Fund that was set up by Star-C, a local nonprofit focused on creating more just outcomes in education and affordable housing. You can contribute to the Eviction Relief Fund by going to Star-C.org or by clicking the link in our bio! @ Atlanta, Georgia

Thanks to the generosity of our CityRootsATL coalition, we were able to raise $3,355 and fund 3 months of rent for 3 low income Atlanta families who would have been evicted today! We're grateful for your support and grateful for the leadership by to create The Neighbourhood Initiative. We want to make sure our low income neighbors know that we stand with them. This was a great way to put that into practice. Thank you all again!

Due to corona virus concerns, we are regretfully canceling the canvassing event this weekend. But we want to get this information out and these tax deadlines aren’t postponed. SO, if you know of any organizations that work with populations in Atlanta that are at a risk of displacement, please comment below or DM us with their info. We would love to email or drop off flyers to them so they can pass the information along to the communities they serve!

CityRoots ATL was at City Hall for yesterday's meeting to request that the council unanimously adopt the moratorium on all permits in the area surrounding the Westside Park. But more importantly, we encouraged them to include the neighbors in this planning phase and to use the time wisely. We will be at every Council meeting throughout this moratorium to remind them of their responsibility to these historically underserved neighborhoods.

“There is a low-income housing crisis all over America where low income residents are being pushed out of the city’s core into the outskirts where there are less amenities and services for them,” said Justin Giboney, co-founder of City Roots ATL, an anti-displacement advocacy organization. “We want to make sure that this doesn’t happen in Atlanta.”
