Farragut State Park is a beautiful 4000 acre outdoor recreation area on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille in North Idaho.70 years ago the United States Navy had a large training facility on this land. Now, camping, hiking, mountain biking, equestrian use, model airplane flying, disc golf, swimming and boating are just a few of your options as you visit the park.

Friends, we need to have a little chat about basic logic.

To the individual who decided the North side was the perfect retirement community for eight full-grown roosters: what was the expected outcome here? Did you envision a magical Disney moment where the rangers adopt them? Or did you assume eight roosters would just… blend into the scenery and survive in the wild?

If you thought we wouldn't notice eight literal alarm clocks wandering the trails, we have questions about your situational awareness. This is a State Park, not a farm animal dumping ground. Be a better human.

Another great day of community and outdoor recreation! Close to 150 people attended IDPR’s annual Free Winter Access Day here at the park! We had fat tire bike demonstrations, guided hikes, cookie decorating, and lots of people enjoying the park! Special thanks go out to Two Wheeler Dealer, Coffee Coach, and Super One Foods. Let’s do this again next year!

Wow! Wow! Wow! What an incredible turn out for our first day hike and Dutch oven demonstration. Nearly 230 people and a lot of wonderful doggos came to welcome the new year by spending the morning outdoors with us! This is why we love our jobs. The human connection with like minded folks. Farragut staff wish you all a healthy and happy New Year! (Next year we’ll have more Dutch ovens 😁)

This coming Saturday! Come and play in the park! On Saturday, January 3rd, park access is free to everyone all day! There will be several local businesses with fat bike demonstrations, snowshoeing info, and Timberlake fire will be here with their fire trucks! There isn’t much snow but the trails are in good shape for hiking. Activities from 10-2, free access all day. Good hiking boots recommended. Pets must be on leash at all times.

Greetings Farragut friends! It snowed!
The South Road and North Road entrances are now closed for the season.

Winter recreation activities on the north side can be accessed from the North Road parking lot and on the south side from the visitor center parking lot. The disc golf complex and boat launch are accessible at your own risk from the east entrance.

We are still assessing snow conditions and will not start working on trail grooming until we have a bit more snow. In the meantime, enjoy the season!
