Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day!

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice has secured the freedoms we enjoy each day, and we are deeply grateful.

As we spend time with family and reflect on this day, we remember those who gave everything. May we never take their courage and commitment for granted.

Andy the Armadillo says don’t forget to register your children for our Summer Youth Literacy Program starting on June 15, 2026! Registration is open now through May 29, 2026.

Parents interested in enrolling their child should:
• Pick up and turn in a registration form at the center
• Provide the student’s most recent report card
• Schedule a literacy assessment

We are also still looking for additional summer tutors to help support students throughout the program. If you enjoy working with youth and want to make a positive impact this summer, we would love to hear from you!

Another milestone reached in our Adult Basic Literacy program! Laura Mascote has officially completed the Laubach Way Skillbook series and is now advancing into the Challenger series throughProLiteracyy’s New Readers Press. We are excited to continue supporting her through her literacy journey!

The Athens-Limestone County Family Resource Center is currently looking for tutors to assist with our Summer Youth Literacy Program beginning June 15, 2026.

If you enjoy working with youth and have a passion for helping students strengthen their reading and literacy skills, we would love to hear from you! This is a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact while helping students build confidence and academic success in a positive learning environment.

We are currently collecting donations for our Shepherd’s Closet to help support families in our community!

If you’re able to donate, we are in need of:
- Diapers [Sizes 5,6,7]
- Pull Ups [ 3t-4t and 4t-5t]
- Summer clothing [Girls]
- Socks [Children and Women's]
- Toothbrushes [Adult and Child]
- We are also in need of an adult bicycle in good condition if available

Donations can be dropped off at the Athens-Limestone County Family Resource Center Monday through Friday, between 8:30am-4:30pm.
