Guys, we are growing, but we still need your help and participation. If you haven’t already please like and share our autism spectrum awareness page: https://www.facebook.com/limestonealcares/. Our focus is to help those on the autism spectrum and assist the parents of these children. Many individuals on the spectrum have a very difficult time with social interactions (carrying on a conversation, eye contact, reading body language, etc) and we want to organize and hold autism socials for children, teenagers, and young adults to assist them in social interactions with their peers. Our goal is to make this task a little easier for all involved. If you know of someone or would just like to volunteer please fill out the following link:

I’d like to begin this post by saying Megon and I are blessed with two wonderful children who are on the autism spectrum. Some of you may be asking what exactly is the definition of autism. Clinically defined- Autism impacts the normal development of the brain in the areas of social interaction, communication skills, and cognitive function. Individuals with autism typically have difficulties in verbal and non-verbal communication, social interactions, and leisure or play activities.
Some facts about autism are:
1. It greatly varies from person to person (no two people with autism are alike).
2. The rate of autism has steadily grown over the last twenty years.
3. Autism is the fastest growing developmental disorder, yet most underfunded.
4. Children with autism do progress – early intervention is key, but most of all Autism is treatable, and not a hopeless condition.

We know that there are many families in Limestone County that are blessed with children on the spectrum. The reason for us writing this post is that we want to organize and hold an autism social for children on the spectrum to assist them in social interactions with their peers. As stated we are in the early planning phase of this event and if you or someone you know would like to be part of planning and supporting this effort please pm me and please share this post on your page.
