SPECIAL CALLED MEETINGS.

Notice is hereby given to all residents of Athens, Tennessee, and to all interested persons, that a Special Called Session of the Athens City Council will be held at Athens City Hall, 815 North Jackson Street, Athens, Tennessee, beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2026.

The purpose of this first meeting is to:

A. Retail development items needing attention.

B. Concerns regarding executive sessions.

Citizens will have the opportunity to provide public comments. Prior to the start of the meeting, all persons wishing to address the City Council must sign in on the sheet provided at the entrance to the Council Chambers. Speakers are required to comply with the adopted public comment rules.

A SECOND SPECIAL CALLED MEETING WILL THEN BE HELD AT 6 P.M.

The Public Works Department of Athens announced that Old Englewood Road, from South Jackson Street to New Englewood Road/Highway 39, will be closed from 8:00 a.m. on June 2, 2026, until 5:00 p.m. on June 3, 2026. The closure is needed for fence repairs at Heritage Park, and drivers should expect detours and possible traffic delays in the area.
