Please be safe with the storm coming in. Check on your loved ones and if you must be on the roads take your time and be cautious.

⚠️ Winter Storm Warning ⚠️ Please Be Prepared

“Winter weather can change quickly, and road conditions can become dangerous with little notice,” said Sheriff Rodney Smith. “If you don’t have to be out, please stay off the roadways. Taking extra precautions, checking on friends and neighbors, and limiting travel when conditions worsen helps keep our community and our emergency responders safe.”

As a winter storm approaches Athens County, residents are encouraged to plan ahead and use extra caution. Inclement weather can change quickly, and road conditions may become hazardous with little notice.

Please take time to check on friends, family members, and neighbors (especially the elderly) who may need assistance.

Be sure to review our snow level information so you’re prepared, no matter what the weather brings. Snow levels are issued to protect the public and help keep roadways safe for emergency responders and road crews. When conditions worsen, residents are strongly encouraged to stay off roadways unless travel is absolutely necessary.
