COAD Senior Programs Our Foster Grandparent, Senior Companion, and RSVP programs can be found in the 30 southeast Ohio counties of our Appalachian service area

COAD’s Senior Programs through AmeriCorps include:
-Foster Grandparents- senior in-class child mentors
-Retired Senior Volunteers Program- retired senior community volunteers
-Senior Companions: seniors helping other seniors remain independent

What makes the Foster Grandparent Program special is that it benefits both generations. Children receive encouragement, guidance, and positive relationships, while volunteers have an opportunity to remain active, develop new skills, build friendships, and contribute to their community.

To me, the Foster Grandparent Program represents the power of service, compassion, and intergenerational connection. It shows that experience and caring can have a lasting impact on a child's life.
