Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, service, and dedication will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, let us also take a moment to reflect on the meaning of this holiday and honor those who gave everything in service to our nation.

Over the last six weeks, 15 community members took part in the Sheriff’s Academy for Community Engagement (ACE) Program and got an exclusive behind the scenes look at the daily operations of the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office.

Participants explored court operations, field services, administration, and jail operations while learning directly from the men and women who serve our community each day.

The experience was hands on from start to finish. They tested their skills in a virtual reality fi****ms safety and training simulator, toured the jail, learned how drone technology is used in law enforcement, explored specialized equipment, and gained insight into the many roles within CCSO. 👀🚔

Most importantly, they built connections, asked questions, and got a firsthand look at what public safety looks like in Athens-Clarke County.
