📢 Board of Trustees Election – October 27th!

D.R. Evarts Library will be holding its upcoming Board of Trustees Election on October 27th, and we have three open seats!

Serving on the Board of Trustees is a wonderful opportunity to support your library, help shape its future, and make a difference in our community.

Any Athens residents that are interested in joining the board can pick up a petition packet at the circulation desk. Petitions are due September 22nd.

Library Flood Update

Due to the recent flood damage at the library and the ongoing cleanup and recovery efforts, Bodie's Lighthouse Lab and Innovation Studio are canceled through the month of August.

We’re working hard to get everything cleaned up, safe, and back in order. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this unexpected situation. ❤️

Programs are expected to resume in September, and we’ll share the September schedule as soon as it’s available.

Celebrate the end of summer at our carnival this afternoon! Join us for games, snacks, Sno-cones, prizes and a raffle! The fun starts at 4pm.

🚨 Bodie’s Lighthouse Lab Canceled 🚨

Unfortunately, we need to cancel Bodie’s Lighthouse Lab due to an unexpected issue in the library basement following the recent flooding. During the cleanup, mold was discovered, and the basement will remain closed while the issue is addressed.

At this time, we are unsure when the basement will reopen, so we are unable to provide a new date for the program. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience and hate to cancel such a fun program!

We’ll keep everyone updated as we learn more. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to make sure the library is safe for everyone. 💙

We’re Sorry! 💙

We’re so sorry to announce that Innovation Studio is canceled yet again! 😞 We know we’ve had to make this announcement more than once, and we truly appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding.

This time, the cancellation is due to new flooring being installed, and unfortunately, we need to give the installers the space they need to get the job done.

The good news is that Bodie's Lighthouse Lab this coming Saturday will be OPEN! 🎉 We hope to see you then!

Thank you for bearing with us while we make some repairs to our space. We can’t wait to have Innovation Studio back up and running! 🛠️✨

After polling our patrons, the overwhelming response was for consistent hours, so we are now open M-F 10am-6pm and Saturdays 10am-2pm. Thank you all for your input!
