Richland Area Fire Dept. The Richland Area Fire Department is a 100% Volunteer Fire Department located in Athens County, Ohio which covers 93 square miles. Station 1: 9255 Hooper Rd.

Station 2: 2320 Old US Rt 33 Shade OH The Richland Area Fire Department was established in 1954. Located in Athens County, Ohio the department covers 94 square including all of Lodi Township, the eastern half of Alexander Township, the southern section of Canaan Township, and a large section of Athens Township. Richland Fire also responds as automatic mutual aid for multiple departments

in Athens County and will assist any department who request us as mutual aid. In 2021 the department responded to 253 calls for service resulting in 996.5 hours on scene. Calls consisted of structure fires, vehicle fires, vehicle accidents, lost persons, downed trees, and utility lines down. In addition our volunteers spend countless hours training, conducting vehicle and equipment maintenance and providing coverage or participating in community events. ATHENS COUNTY: As part of the two-lane to four-lane expansion project on U.S. 33, a new bridge is being constructed at Pleasanton Road in Athens County. On Tuesday, July 14, a contractor will be setting the beams over U.S. 33 for this bridge. During this operation, flaggers will direct traffic onto a temporary roadway around the work. On Friday, June 19, the Richland Area Fire Department held our annual hose and ladder testing which was completed by Maximum Pressure Hose Testing LLC . We would to thank them for their hard work, Athens City School District for allowing us to utilize the parking lot at Morrison-Gordon Elementary, and Sickles Sanitation.
