Agricultural and environmental sciences are only as important as the food you eat, the clothes you wear, and the water and air around you. To improve the quality and guard the safety of life's necessities, the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences has gathered world-renowned scientists and exceptional students. In its classrooms, its Agricultural Experiment Stations and its statewide network of Cooperative Extension offices, the faculty and staff of the CAES are dedicated to discovering, teaching and delivering the science required for healthy living to flourish in Georgia. The CAES has classrooms, laboratories and facilities on UGA campuses in Athens, Griffin and Tifton, Georgia. In addition, CAES has research and education centers in Attapulgus, Camilla, Eatonton, Savannah, Blairsville, Calhoun, Midville and Plains. The college is also represented across the state by local UGA Cooperative Extension offices and five 4-H Centers in Hampton, Jekyll Island, Eatonton, Tybee Island and Dahlonega.

๐ŸŒŸ alumna Corrie Mays (BSES โ€™03) knew exactly what she wanted to do: She wanted to be a Marine, and she wanted to fly jets.

After studying environmental economics and management at CAES, Mays joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where she graduated top of her class in flight school.

In 2014, she was selected to the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, the Navy's elite Flight Demonstration Squadron, as just the second woman to wear a number on her flight suit.

At a recent field day, attendees got an inside look at the active trials going on at the innovation farm with guided field tours from the researchers and industry partners leading the work.

๐Ÿชฒ Some of the University of Georgia's smallest residents are waiting to meet you at our newly renovated Live Insect Zoo.

Led by CAES' entomology experts, the zoo is home to over 50 species of insects and arachnids, including Ms. Bonnie, a 14-year-old tarantula, and Clawd, a glow-in-the-dark โ€œspicy land lobster."

๐ŸŒฑ When a team of scouts realized pasture mealybug had crossed into Georgia, Associate Professor and State Forage Specialist Lisa Baxter was the first person they called.

Far from harmless, the pest has the potential to cause serious problems for agriculture, especially the beef industry, which relies on healthy pasture grasses for grazing animals.

UGA Extension forage specialists have been working around the clock to track the newly arrived pest and establish the best management options for Georgia grass producers.

๐ŸŒŸ The home of the nation's No. 1 hospitality and food industry management program is getting a MAJOR transformation.

Through a $10.39 million renovation, led by a $5 million commitment from The Delta Air Lines Foundation, the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education will gain a state-of-the-art teaching kitchen and labs for event and beverage management.

Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2027, with the new spaces slated to open in time for the fall 2028 semester.
