September is Hunger Action Month 💚

No one in our community should have to choose between putting food on the table and paying for housing, utilities, medicine, or other basic necessities.

Throughout September, Clatsop Community Action’s Regional Food Bank joins food banks across the country in recognizing Hunger Action Month—a time to raise awareness about hunger and remind our community that together, we can make a difference.

Every day, our Regional Food Bank works alongside our local food pantries and community partners to make sure our neighbors have access to nutritious food when they need it most.

Hunger can affect anyone—a family going through a difficult month, a senior living on a fixed income, a veteran, or someone who simply needs a little help getting back on their feet. There is no shame in asking for help.

This September, we invite you to take action. Donate food, volunteer, support your local food pantry, share information about available resources, or simply help us spread the word.

🧡 Together, we can fight hunger and strengthen our community—one neighbor, one family, and one meal at a time.

Celebrating the End of Summer at Columbia Inn! ☀️

Last week, we celebrated the end of summer with the families at Columbia Inn, and what a wonderful day it was! ❤️

The children laughed, played, enjoyed treats, and made special memories together at the place they currently call home. Seeing their smiles and watching them simply enjoy being kids was a beautiful reminder of why this work matters.

Columbia Inn is more than a shelter—it is a place where families can feel safe, supported, and cared for while they work toward their next chapter.

Every child deserves moments of joy, no matter what circumstances their family may be facing. We are grateful to our amazing staff and everyone who helped make this day so special for our children and families. 💛🏡

CCA has four housing programs that depend on CoC funding to provide stability and support to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. These programs are an important part of our community’s safety net, helping individuals and families access housing and the services they need to remain housed.

The uncertainty surrounding this funding creates real concern—not just for organizations like CCA, but for the people and families we serve. Housing programs cannot operate effectively when the future of critical funding is uncertain.

Federal funding was appropriated to support communities addressing homelessness, and we believe communities should have the stability and resources needed to continue this important work.

We will continue to monitor developments and advocate for the people we serve and for the housing resources our community depends on.

💙 Stable housing changes lives. Our community deserves the resources to keep people housed.

A federal court ruled that HUD's 2026 Notice of Funding Opportunity for Continuum of Care grants was issued unlawfully, violating the Administrative Procedure Act.

It's HUD's responsibility to issue a lawful and timely NOFO. Instead, the agency tried to suddenly set aside $1.3B for unproven new projects while leaving existing, effective programs unable to renew.

Courts have repeatedly blocked HUD's attempts to weaponize this funding. Congress appropriated these dollars, and communities are counting on them. HUD must fulfill its obligation to get this funding out the door, without political strings attached.

Last Thursday, more than 54 veterans joined us for a morning filled with great conversation, meaningful connections, and a delicious breakfast.

We are incredibly grateful for Lums’ ongoing commitment to supporting our local veterans and helping create a welcoming space where they can gather, connect, and enjoy each other’s company.

Thank you, Lums, for your continued generosity, and thank you to all the veterans who joined us. We look forward to seeing everyone again next month!
