🎉 GOOD NEWS, ASPINWALL! 🎉

We are excited to announce that the Borough of Aspinwall has been awarded two LSA grants totaling $184,327!

🏛️ $150,000 – Fire Station #2 Weather Relief Station
This funding will help us convert Fire Station #2 into a Weather Relief Station, providing a safe and accessible community resource during extreme heat, cold, power outages, and other weather-related emergencies.

🏓 $34,327 – Pickleball & Multi-Use Courts
This funding will help offset construction costs for the new pickleball and multi-use courts at Aspinwall Community Park, adding more recreational opportunities for residents of all ages.

Thank you to State Representative Mandy Steele for her support and assistance in helping Aspinwall secure this funding.

We’re excited to keep these projects moving forward and will continue to share updates with the community as work progresses.

PRESS RELEASE FROM ALLEGHENY COUNTY
The Allegheny County Health Department’s Mosquito-Borne Disease Control Program (BU 1224) will be conducting a truck-mounted, Ultra Low Volume (ULV) spray event on Wednesday September 9th, between 8pm and 11pm to decrease mosquito populations and reduce the risk of West Nile virus (WNV) transmission. In case of inclement weather, the rain date will be September 10th.

Areas of focus will be the city neighborhoods of Aspinwall, Troy Hill, Reserve Township, Allegheny Commons, The Mexican War Streets, and Manchester. Recent mosquito samples collected in and around these areas have tested positive for WNV.

The pesticide being applied is Zenivex E20 and is designed to provide quick, effective control of adult mosquito populations. Zenivex has a very low toxicity profile to mammals and has negligible impact on non-target insects and the environment. It will be released at just 0.6 ounces per acre. The SDS sheet and label for Zenivex E20 are attached to this email along with the PEMA notification form.

Any questions, please call Nick Baldauf at Allegheny County Health Department (Office: 412-350-3893). The press release will be accessible once it has been issued at https://www.alleghenycounty.us/News-Articles/Allegheny-County-Press-Releases.
