We want to thank our valley mutual aid partners for the assist last night! It was a long night for our crew. Holiday weekends create special problems with many volunteers out of town. Our new regional response for auto aid in the valley helps all departments work with more needed manpower and creates better outcomes for our valley community members when devastation strikes. Thanks again to our valley brothers and sisters!

For those that didn't see the newest addition to the Asotin Fire tools box at the parade this morning, we would like to present UTV51! This resource was paid for 100% with a grant from WA DNR.. It is a true 6x6 with a 110 gal water tank, a plug n play winch, as well as EMS set up to reach patients that are in difficult terrain. The process, from paperwork to today's rollout, took right at a year. Thank you everybody that had a part to play in getting it ready to go before fire season.

From our house to yours, we wish everybody a Very Merry Christmas!

NOVEMBER BALLOT INFORMATION

Ballots are due by November 4th, 2025.

Asotin County is asking voters to consider a sales tax measure on the November 4, 2025 ballot. The 1/10th of 1% increase will fund essential maintenance and upgrades for emergency services communications.

The costs associated with maintaining emergency communications systems and equipment are rising and available Federal grants are shrinking. This means that the County is forced to use funds intended for future expansion of our radio network for maintenance and upgrades to our current equipment, preventing us from expanding, leaving approximately 30% of the county with limited or no radio coverage.

Asotin County relies on a system of radio, telephone, and computer equipment to provide emergency communications between the public, 911 dispatch, and first responders. To keep up with rising costs of updating and maintaining this equipment the County Commissioners are asking voters to consider a 1/10th of 1% sales tax to exclusively fund emergency communications in Asotin County.

For more information please contact the Emergency Management Director, Nick Bacon at (509) 243-2088 during business hours, or by email at [email protected]
