We had a very good night training with ACFD #1 and WADNR. The burn was conducted in a very controlled and safe atmosphere, to allow all the teams to train while protecting from spread. This type of training is what makes our valley agencies work seamlessly with each other when things are happening in a fluid and dangerous atmosphere.

While many were sleeping and winding down for the evening, our crew, along with a crew from ACFD #1, responded to a request for mutual aid in Garfield County. This was a great opportunity for a couple of our newer members to gain some experience. It was also a great opportunity to put ATV 51 through it's paces and make sure we have all the bugs worked out. This type of fire is exactly why DNR awarded the grant to our department. Our crew was released from the scene and returned home early this morning.

We want to thank our valley mutual aid partners for the assist last night! It was a long night for our crew. Holiday weekends create special problems with many volunteers out of town. Our new regional response for auto aid in the valley helps all departments work with more needed manpower and creates better outcomes for our valley community members when devastation strikes. For those that didn't see the newest addition to the Asotin Fire tools box at the parade this morning, we would like to present UTV51! This resource was paid for 100% with a grant from WA DNR.. It is a true 6x6 with a 110 gal water tank, a plug n play winch, as well as EMS set up to reach patients that are in difficult terrain. The process, from paperwork to today's rollout, took right at a year. Thank you everybody that had a part to play in getting it ready to go before fire season.
