“It was good to see him doing well and no deficit, and I’m really proud of the department. Harrison’s a great place, and I’m glad we were able to get that shown today.” -Lieutenant Nicholas Krouse

We couldn’t be more proud of our personnel for stepping up in Layton’s time of need. When seconds matter, we are always ready to answer the call.

Layton Waugh had less than 1% chance of surviving after being shot in the chest. Five months later, the 19-year-old took the stage to honor the Harrison Township EMS crew who saved his life: https://www.10tv.com/article/news/local/19-year-old-shooting-victim-helps-honor-ems-personnel-ohio/530-24e72452-3c4a-4abf-9ed8-df2b4677f561?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_10TV_-_WBNS

Congratulations to Firefighters Caleb Caldwell, Nathan Kent and Tyler Lanning for completing the Paramedic program. For the last 14-18 months these 3 gentle men have been working part time and attending paramedic school full time. We are pleased to announce they have not only completed the program, but they have also successfully passed all the required testing and are now National Registered and Ohio State certified Paramedics.

This morning we were dispatched to the area of Walnut Creek Pike north of SR 752 on a report of a motor vehicle collision. 2 vehicles were found with heavy damage and 1 occupant in each vehicle was trapped and unable to get out. Another victim, a back seat passenger from one of the vehicles was found standing with bystanders nearby.

The victims were quickly extricated from the vehicles by firefighters. Medics began treatment immediately and transferred care of each victim to helicopters for transport to area hospitals in fair condition. The back seat passenger was transported by ground in stable condition.

This collision remains under investigation by the Pickaway County Sheriff's Office.

Thank you to our public safety partners for their assistance this morning.

Your Firefighters in action! Over the past 2 weeks, our personnel have attended an in house paramedic refresher course. Paramedic refresher training allows members to review medical protocol, discuss important case studies, learn new emerging technologies and evidence based medical data, and practice real-world scenarios in a controlled learning environment. A huge thank you to all of our outside instructors including Ohio Health Grant Medical Center, Nationwide Children's Hospital, Air Evac (Lancaster), and Mount Carmel Hospital.
