THEY RAN TOWARD THE DANGER SO OTHERS COULD RUN TO SAFETY. 🇺🇸

September 11, 2001 reminds us of one of the deepest truths about being a firefighter: when everyone else is searching for a way out, firefighters are called to find a way in.

That morning, firefighters entered the Twin Towers carrying the weight of their gear—and the responsibility of strangers they had never met. Floor after floor, they climbed toward smoke, fire, and unimaginable danger while helping others make their way down.

343 FDNY firefighters made the ultimate sacrifice.

Behind every helmet was a person with a family. Someone was waiting for them to come home. Someone was hoping to hear their voice again. Yet when the call came, they answered.

That is dedication.

Not the absence of fear, but the willingness to keep moving when someone else’s life depends on you. Not for recognition. Not for applause. Simply because someone needed help.

Today, we remember the 343. We honor their courage, their brotherhood, their dedication to duty, and the families who carried an unimaginable loss.

And we honor every firefighter who continues to put on the uniform knowing that every alarm may ask more of them than they ever expected to give.

To the 343: your final call may have ended, but your courage still echoes through every firehouse and every firefighter who answers the next alarm.

We remember you. We honor you. We will never forget. 🇺🇸🚒

This Labor Day make sure you're keeping grilling safety front of mind during the cookout — grilling sparks more than 10,000 home fires on average each year. To avoid this, the Red Cross offers these grilling safety tips:

🌭 Always supervise a barbecue grill when in use. Don’t add charcoal starter fluid when coals have already been ignited.

🍔 Never grill indoors — not in the house, camper, tent or any enclosed area.
Make sure everyone, including pets, stays away from the grill.

🥩 Keep the grill out in the open, away from the house, deck, tree branches or anything that could catch fire.

🍴Use the long-handled tools especially made for cooking on the grill to help keep the chef safe.

🌽 Don't leave perishable food out in the sun.

As we prepare for the start of the fall season, we wanted to share an update on the progress of the Plymouth Township Fire Station renovation.

In the last couple of weeks, Union Industrial Contractors have been hard at work putting in the pad and digging the footers for the foundation of the meeting room addition. This past week the footers were poured and foundation block has started to take shape!

As the project continues, we will continue to provide updates.

We would like to thank Union Industrial Contractors of Ashtabula, The Plymouth Township Trustees, and our residents for supporting us and making this possible!

Plymouth Part-time and Volunteer firefighters responded out to Interstate 90 for a two car crash with unknown injuries. Squads 189 & 179 and Engine 173 responded. Crews found two vehicles with heavy damage and airbag deployment. A total of 7 patients were transported to local hospitals to be assessed for injuries. We would also like to thank Saybrook Township Fire Department and Ashtabula Township Fire Departments for assisting us with this incident.
