🚨 Village of Ashmore Electric Alert 🚨

We have a confirmation that Restoration time will be on or before 12:30 Today June 20, 2026

We still have 51 homes without power.
Ameren Illinois was contacted earlier and is actively working to get the remaining outages restored as quickly as possible.
Please know that neither the Village nor the Township has forgotten about you — we are aware of the situation, and Ameren is actively addressing it.

Thank you Ameren and the other electric service teams working to get Ashmore back up and Running !!

Storm Recovery Updates in Coles County Friday morning:
- Utility crews are at work along Route 16 east of Ashmore. The Village of Ashmore reports the American Red Cross will be parked behind the village office providing free lunch at 1:15 p.m. They say shovels, rakes and tarps will also be available.
- In Charleston, city leaders say two food distribution sites will operate from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., one at North Side Baptist Church, 414 North 5th Street, and one at the Doudna Fine Arts Center at Eastern Illinois University.
- The City of Charleston's leaf and limb drop-off site on West Madison Avenue will remain open for residents and contractors to dispose of storm-related tree limbs and brush. No household trash or construction debris will be accepted at this location.
- City officials also say residents should avoid blocking fire hydrants with brush and limbs from the storm. Fire hydrants should have 3 feet of clearance at all times.

A SUPER SHOUT OUT to the RED CROSS Volunteers who came out today for the first round of meals. They will return this afternoon at 5:15. Same place. The clean up supply guys will be pulling out around 5:00.

A few bag lunches are left. It was a popular event.. They will be back around 5:15 at Prospect Bank/Village Office Building again. With more hot meals for supper!!!!

Please be cautious of potential scammers going door-to-door claiming to be insurance adjusters or roofing repair contractors.

Do NOT sign anything if they do not have an official Village of Ashmore badge or clear identification.

If the person is from your personal insurance company or has a Village of Ashmore badge, we know they are legitimate.

Please protect yourself and your property. If you are unsure about someone at your door, call the Village Office at 217-349-8332 before signing any paperwork.

⚠️ IMPORTANT ELECTRIC UPDATE FROM THE VILLAGE OFFICE ⚠️

If anyone is traveling east on Route 16 out of Ashmore toward Kansas, you will see Ameren crews working hard to replace the utility poles that were split in half during the storm. There is some backup in traffic, but they get you through quickly.

At this time, The Village Office does not have an official restoration update yet. However, from what we can see, crews are working safely and as quickly as possible to restore power.
