The Delaware County Emergency Management office will be closed on Monday, September 7th, 2026, in observance of Labor Day. Staff remain on call through Delaware County, OH 911 - DELCOMM for any emergencies that may arise.

Holiday History: Observed on the first Monday in September, Labor Day is an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers. The holiday is rooted in the late nineteenth century, when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being.

🦟 How do we decide when to spray for mosquitoes? Our Mosquito Control Program monitors mosquito activity throughout the season by collecting and testing mosquitoes from traps across Delaware County for West Nile virus (WNV).

We only spray when a mosquito trap comes back positive or there is a reported human case of mosquito-borne illness. Our goal is to protect your health while using mosquito treatments responsibly.

Residents can also help reduce mosquito activity by:
✔️ Dumping standing water every 3–4 days
✔️ Using EPA-registered insect repellent
✔️ Wearing long sleeves and pants when possible
✔️ Keeping window and door screens in good repair
