In case you were wondering what the commotion was on Thursday March 2nd, The Delaware County Tactical Unit served a search warrant in the Village, no persons were injured in the operation. One person was arrested by Ashley PD for an unrelated warrant. Thank you to the villagers for their cooperation.

The Ashley Police Department would like to thank everyone who attended the 2022 Corn Show and all who visited our booth! It was a great treat to get out and talk to the residents we serve. The finger printing station for kids was a huge hit. Additionally we would like to thank the residents and parents who stopped to look at our new cruiser! Remember, if you have any questions you can always flag an officer down or call us. There are also plenty of surveys left if anyone would like to fill one out.

We understand there was some confusion about incidents occurring at a residence just east of village limits earlier today. To clarify, an alleged shooting occurred around noon today. An Ashley unit was first to secure the scene and the incident is currently being investigated by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office. A suspect is in custody and no injuries were reported. Once Delaware County Sheriff’s Office has concluded their investigation, residents can request a copy of the report by contacting the Sheriff’s public records unit.

In regards to the last post, there still seems to be some confusion regarding information about the Police Department.. there are several reasons as to why an officer would need to leave the village (and this is not an exhaustive list), such as :

to pick up or drop off court paperwork, case files, prosecutor paperwork, warrants, traffic citations, correspondence with the courts or other government agency, to transport prisoners to jail/court, to transport or es**rt suicidal subjects to a mental health emergency department, to interview victims of crimes or crashes who have been transported by EMS, to take required training and examinations for the state's law enforcement automated data system, to conduct criminal, traffic, or background investigations, to execute arrest warrants, to obtain arrest and search warrants, to assist other agencies as necessary, to meet with other law enforcement executives and county first responder executives to review, update, and create emergency response plans for mass casualty events, natural disasters, and other calamities, to attend training courses to keep certifications current and to obtain new skills, knowledge, and experiences.

Moreover the annual salary for a village of Ashley police Officer is less than $36k/year

If you would like to receive copies of the actual budget for the police department, you may contact the village fiscal officer.

Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and have a great New Year, from the Village of Ashley Police

Dear Villagers,

Due to the failure of the levy, the police department staffing has been cut. Moreover, you can expect gaps in coverage, much like coverage you’re more used to seeing in 2019 and prior. It is not the wish of the police department to under serve its residents. We all wish you safety and happiness during the holidays!
