The Ashland Optimist's annual fishing clinic enjoyed a nice group of 40 kids enjoying the sunshine and fishing at Ashland City Park. The event was coordinated by Optimist members Will and Tara Blue, with fishing poles and worms provided by the Missouri Department of Conservation, and prizes donated by Black Dog Outdoors Bait and Tackle Shop. Sydney W. enjoyed the Father's Day weekend with her father and caught the most fish (five). Sierra Laughln and Tyssac Smith proudly display their catches. Not pictured, Logan B. won for longest fish caught at 7.5 inches.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of a truly great servant of the Lord and wonderful man. We were blessed to have him with our Ashland Optimist Club and listening to him sing “Silent Night” in German each Christmas. Heaven has added a special angel.

Southern Boone High School student Gannon Seyer, third place winner , and a $1,000 scholarship recipient, in the East Missouri Optimist (EMO) District Oratorical contest, shared his speech on community service in local governance, at the Ashland Optimist breakfast meeting. Gannon expressed his sincere appreciation to Ashland Optimist member John Travlos for his coaching and support.
