Battle of the Bands Food Drive

Instructions for Participating Organizations

Thank you for supporting the Battle of the Bands Food Drive between the Ashland and Boyd County marching bands! Your organization can help turn this friendly rivalry into a big impact for local families.

How to Participate

1. Choose the school you want to support:
Ashland or Boyd County.
2. Set up a collection box:
Place a sturdy donation box in your lobby or another visible area.
3. Decorate the box:
Display the logo and colors of the school your organization is supporting. Clearly label it:
Battle of the Bands Food Drive Donations
4. Promote the food drive:
Encourage employees, customers, visitors, and community members to donate canned food and other nonperishable items.
5. Arrange pickup and weighing:
When your box is full—or when your collection is complete—notify a participating student or contact United Way of Northeast Kentucky. We will arrange to pick up and weigh the donations so they can be credited to your chosen school.

Collection Dates

📅 September 21–October 2

The winning school will be announced October 9 at the Ashland vs. Boyd County varsity football game.

Most-Needed Items

• Canned meats
• Canned soups
• Cereal
• Rice and beans
• Peanut butter
• Macaroni and cheese
• Pasta and pasta sauce
• Other unopened, unexpired, nonperishable foods

Please do not donate opened, expired, damaged, or perishable items.

All donations will remain in our community and benefit the Ashland and Boyd County Family Resource Youth Service Centers, Hillcrest Bruce Mission, and Ashland Community Kitchen.
