❤️ Why Donating Blood Matters

Every day, someone in our community may need blood because of a serious accident, a medical emergency, surgery, or a life-threatening illness. Blood cannot be manufactured—it can only come from generous donors.

For firefighters and first responders, we see firsthand how precious time is during an emergency. A single blood donation can help save multiple lives and ensure hospitals have the supply they need when seconds matter.

By donating blood, you’re not just giving a pint—you’re giving hope to a family, a second chance to a patient, and support to your entire community.

If you’re healthy and eligible, consider scheduling a blood donation on August 13. Together, we can make a lifesaving difference.

Give blood. Save lives. Strengthen our community. ❤️🩸

☀️ HEAT ADVISORY FOR CENTRAL MISSOURI

A Heat Advisory remains in effect through Friday night. Hot temperatures combined with high humidity can quickly lead to heat-related illnesses. Please take extra precautions if you must be outdoors.

Stay safe by:
💧 Drinking plenty of water throughout the day—even if you don’t feel thirsty.
🏠 Spending time in air-conditioned buildings whenever possible.
👕 Wearing lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
🌳 Limiting outdoor activities, especially during the hottest part of the day (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.).
⛱️ Taking frequent breaks in the shade if working or exercising outside.
👶 Never leaving children, older adults, or pets in a parked vehicle—not even for a few minutes.
🐾 Making sure pets have plenty of fresh water and a cool place to rest.
❤️ Checking on elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone without reliable air conditioning.

Know the warning signs of heat-related illness:
• Heavy sweating
• Dizziness or fainting
• Headache
• Nausea or vomiting
• Muscle cramps
• Confusion or loss of consciousness

If someone shows signs of heat stroke, call 911 immediately. Heat stroke is a life-threatening emergency.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and help keep our community safe.

🚨 Flood Safety Reminder 🚨

Recent rainfall has caused flooding in parts of our area, and additional water may continue to impact roadways, low-lying areas, and streams.

Please remember:

🌧️ Turn Around, Don’t Drown® — Never drive through flooded roadways. It only takes a small amount of moving water to sweep a vehicle away.

🌧️ Stay away from creeks, rivers, and drainage ditches that may be flowing faster and deeper than they appear.

🌧️ Monitor local weather forecasts and emergency alerts for changing conditions.

🌧️ If you encounter a flooded roadway, find an alternate route and report hazardous conditions when appropriate.

🌧️ Keep children and pets away from floodwaters, which can contain debris, contaminants, and hidden hazards.

Our personnel are actively monitoring conditions and stand ready to respond when needed. We ask everyone to use caution, avoid unnecessary travel in flooded areas, and help keep our community safe.

Stay informed. Stay alert. Stay safe.
