Partner Spotlight!

What began as an emergency response in the early days of COVID-19 has grown into a deeply integrated partnership between Jackson Care Connect (JCC) and OHRA, one that is improving both housing stability and health outcomes across our community.

In spring 2020, the pandemic exposed urgent gaps for medically fragile, unhoused individuals and JCC stepped in with emergency funding to help OHRA sustain temporary shelter for them...Over time, what began as transactional support became transformational.

OHRA helps many people in our region every year. Our newsletter provides several graphics on OHRA's impact. In the last year, we've provided over 65,000 program services from mail services, meals, emergency support, laundry, case management, and more, and helped 245 people find housing, and we do it with care and compassion.

One of our clients told us, "It felt like this angel came out of nowhere. Everyone else turned us down. OHRA made us feel cared about.”

Meet Dwayne!

Dwayne is a brand-new member of the navigator staff here at OHRA and he is truly enjoying the work, the people, and organizational culture. He says, “You know how sometimes you wake up and don’t want to go to work? This is different. I love getting up in the morning knowing I get to go to OHRA. The atmosphere is one of my favorite things about working here!” That atmosphere and energy are key parts of what drives people like Dwayne to choose to work at OHRA.

Spring is in full bloom, and so is the beauty of our campus!

We are deeply grateful to Barry and Kathryn Thalden for their generous gift, which helped bring this beautiful landscaping project to life. Their commitment to creating a welcoming environment for our guests, staff, and community is truly appreciated.

We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Eileen Piker and Diane de Ryss for the many volunteer hours, advocacy, and support they contributed to help make this project possible. Their dedication and care continue to make a lasting impact at OHRA.

A special thank you as well to the volunteers who regularly help with weeding, watering, and maintaining our new landscaping. Your ongoing efforts ensure that this beautiful space continues to thrive and provide a welcoming environment for everyone who visits our campus.

This project is a wonderful example of what can happen when generous donors and committed volunteers come together to strengthen our community.

It's not too late to be prepared! The early start of fire season in our region reminds us all to access our local resources for fire awareness and preparedness. Many thanks to Jackson County for this great resource for all. Their website shares information on our zones, when to be ready, set, or go, evacuation alerts and more! OHRA is proud to partner with Jackson County in so many ways and we are glad to be able to share such an important resource with the community!

Friends!

The smell of spring is sweet in the air, and our little planters are blooming! Everyone here at OHRA is so grateful for the gifts given to us of time, support, and resources. On a beautiful morning like today, we cherish our guests, our volunteers, our staff, our donors and our partners. We couldn't do it without you!
