🍩🚔 ASHLAND POLICE DEPARTMENT — NATIONAL DONUT DAY 2026 🚔🍩

Friday, June 5th is National Donut Day… which means officers across the country will once again bravely answer the call of duty.
That duty?
Protecting the last Boston Cream in the break room. 😎

But National Donut Day is about more than just coffee and sprinkles. The day was established by The Salvation Army in 1938 to honor the “Donut Lassies” of World War I, who served donuts and comfort to soldiers overseas while also raising funds to support those in need.

Today, we remember the history behind the holiday while also appreciating the small things that bring people together — good coffee, good conversation, and maybe a jelly donut or two.

If you happen to see one of our officers today, feel free to wave hello… just don’t ask how many donuts they’ve had already. 🍩👮‍♂️

Happy National Donut Day from all of us at the Ashland Police Department!

Ashland PD is proud to partner with Guided Addiction Access Points (GAAP) to provide Peer Recovery Coaching following calls for service involving substance use.
Over the past six weeks, Officer Oestreicher and Clinician Quern have worked closely with Matt Gear of GAAP to connect residents with support, resources, and hope. Through follow-up outreach, trust-building, and meeting people wherever they are in their recovery journey, this partnership is helping bridge the gap between crisis and long-term support.
We are already seeing a reduction in repeat calls for service and look forward to continuing this collaborative effort to improve outcomes for individuals and families.
The Ashland Police Department could not be more proud of the work that has been done for the most vulnerable people in our community.
We are committed to continuing this initiative but funding this initiative remains a significant challenge for us.
We’re so proud to be working with GAAP and we’re pursuing funding sources that will allow our relationship to continue.

⚡🚓 ASHLAND POLICE DEPARTMENT COMMUNITY INFORMATION 🚓⚡

Over the next several months, residents in Ashland may notice Eversource contractors and technicians working throughout town as part of a statewide initiative to upgrade traditional electric meters to new smart meters.

To help residents know what to expect, here are a few key details about the program:

📬 Advance Notice
Eversource will mail notifications approximately 90 days before your scheduled meter replacement.

🔧 Installation Process
• Existing electric meters will be replaced with new smart meters.
• In most cases, you do not need to be home as long as the meter is accessible.
• The installation typically takes only a few minutes.

💡 Brief Power Interruption
A short interruption in electrical service may occur while the meter is being swapped.

📊 After Installation
Eversource will provide information on how to access your energy usage data and monitor your account online.

🚨 Safety Reminder
Legitimate Eversource employees and contractors should be able to provide identification upon request. If someone comes to your home claiming to be from Eversource and you are unsure of their identity, do not hesitate to ask for credentials. If something doesn't seem right, contact Eversource directly or call the Ashland Police Department's non-emergency line.

The new smart meters are designed to improve electric service reliability, provide faster outage detection, and give customers more detailed information about their energy usage.

For additional information about the smart meter program, visit Eversource's official website or contact their customer service team.
