The "DORA" passed by the city council is not a true DORA. It is only for specific events with an approval process and application fee. Our city has once again failed us and continues to be a self serving club the majority of us cannot get into. I recommend everyone call, write and talk to your rep and the mayor to tell them to make the dora a permanent weekly feature of downtown. The plan that was passed is confusing and frustrating instead of being fun and economically beneficial.

ASHLAND — Ashland City Council is considering the implementation of a designated outdoor refreshment area, also referred to a DORA.

Another city moving forward and boosting their downtown while Ashland's leadership idly sits by and watches money leave the town.

The DORA would be open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends.

Last fall I was informed a DORA was in the works for this spring, but I haven't heard anything yet. Please bring up the DORA with your elected officials every chance you get and tag this page on any news article of an event that would be cooler with a DORA!

While we don't have the DORA yet, please consider coming downtown this weekend. Support the town so they support our cause. Just mention everywhere you go how much cooler it would be with a DORA

After we told you there would be specials for our Costume Crawl on Friday, we asked our downtown bars and restaurants to "come up with something fun", and boy, did they! When you come downtown tomorrow, be prepared to be treated to some creative genius from our peeps-they have put together some spooktacular specials for you all!
Our friends at Riley's will be opening early at 6:00 p.m. They will have dj Crob from Mix 106.1, spooky drink specials, and free photography provided by Benjamin Martin;
our friends and members at Joan's Tavern will have $3 drafts and $2 off their buffalo dip;
our friends and members at Uniontown Brewing Coo will have specialty spooky shots (in syringes and blood bags-check them out on their page-they look awesome!)
our friends and members at Ohio Firere created a new cocktail called fireball spooky juice;
our friends and members at The South Street Grilleeet Grille will have Black Magic Sangria & Poison Apple Sangria, and an employee costume contest which you need to come in and help judge;
our friends at The Wagon Wheel will have live music, giveaways,
and the Budweiser truck in their parking lot;
and our friends and members at A-Town Tap will have a pumpkin Alfredo.

Dudes. This is going to be some party!

Mount Vernon is now on board with DORA. When will Ashland city council finally act?

Council members Tammy Woods and Janis Seavolt voted against the legislation, saying that the constituents they heard from were overwhelmingly against the legislation.

Hey All! I highly encourage you to write an e-mail or letter to your city council person asking about the status of the DORA in the city. They can ignore one e-mail, but they can't ignore the issue anymore if they receive a lot of e-mails. Here is a link to find the information on your council member. Let's make change happen in this community.

City Council meets at 7:00pm on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month except August. Meetings are open to the public. The City Council is the legislative branch of the City.
