SBW Spray closures:
The Maine Budworm Response Coalition (MBRC) wants to make you aware that you may encounter temporary road closures on segments of certain main roads in the North Maine Woods (NMW) region. The MBRC is conducting spruce budworm aerial spray treatments as part of an Early Intervention Strategy (EIS) to protect forest health. Closures are required during active spray operations to ensure public safety.
Closures can be expected as early as Friday, May 29 and continue through approximately June 20. Individual closures to segments of main roads will vary depending on weather and operational conditions.
If you encounter a roadblock, be advised that no access is permitted beyond Do Not Enter signs while roadblocks are in place.
Main roads with segments subject to temporary closure:
• Estcourt Road
• Blanchet Road
• Blue Pond Road
• Michaud Farm Road
• St. Francis Road
Whenever possible, we will provide advance email notice when a specific road closure is confirmed for the following day. Given the weather-dependent nature of aerial spray operations, advance notice may sometimes be limited.
