On Monday, June 1st, we joined NRCS staff from Dickson, Montgomery, Hickman, and Humphreys Counties for a multi-county roundtable meeting hosted at the Michael Burns farm. Landowners and producers from each of the participating counties were part of the discussion. Cheatham County was represented by Michael Burns, James DeLanis, and Darwin Newton. Together, we covered streambank stabilization needs, sinkhole concerns, riparian forest buffers, and other resource issues across our region.
Lunch was provided by Cheatham County SWCD and Dickson County SWCD, and we appreciate everyone who took time out of their day to participate. Thank you to all who attended and contributed to these important conversations.

Thursday, December 11th Janice Weiss, Cheatham County SWCD delivered 2025 Poster Contest Winner awards to the schools! This is probably one of the most rewarding things I do all year, just to see the smiles on these children’s faces when they are presented with awards. We had so many good posters this year. I would like to say congratulations to everyone that participated because they all did an awesome job!

SECDEA Annual Conference was held this week in Pigeon Forge! A great educational meeting for district employees throughout the southeast states. It was packed with lots of educational information for district employees. We bring back ideas and ways to do things from other states. We had a great motivational speaker, Vallie Collins who is a plane crash survivor from the crash on the Hudson River years ago! We ended the meeting with a banquet where Tennessee’s Ray Weaver, from Coffee County was selected as the SECDEA District Official of the Year! So proud of all the accomplishments Ray has made over the years in Conservation! Congratulations to Ray Weaver!
