Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the first responders who ran toward danger when others were running away.

We remember the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, military members, and ordinary Americans who showed extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

For many of the students in our schools today, September 11th is something they know only through history books and the stories of those who lived through it. It is our responsibility to make sure the next generation understands not only what happened that day, but also the courage, sacrifice, service, and unity that followed.

Today, the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office School Safety Division remembers those we lost, honors those who answered the call, and remains grateful for all who continue to serve.

Su***de prevention isn’t just about recognizing the warning signs—it’s about reaching out, listening, showing compassion, and letting someone know they don’t have to face their struggles by themselves. Sometimes, a simple conversation can make all the difference.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make today possible and to all the families who braved the heat and joined us! A special shoutout to the Cheatham County Explorer Program for helping our SROs at our tent throughout the event.

It was great seeing everyone today. Here’s to a great school year!

📚🚌 BACK TO SCHOOL MEANS SAFETY FIRST! 🚌📚
As students head back to the classroom, we're asking every driver to help keep Tennessee's roads safe.

🚸 Remember:
🛑 Stop and yield to pedestrians at crosswalks and intersections.
🛑 Never pass a stopped school bus with flashing red lights and an extended stop arm.
🛑 Obey crossing guards.
🛑 Stay alert, children can be unpredictable near schools, neighborhoods, and bus stops.
🛑 Never pass a vehicle stopped for pedestrians.

A few extra seconds of patience can save a life. Slow down, stay focused, and help us ensure every student arrives safely to and from school.
