National Heat Awareness Day
31 children died in 2025 because of vehicular heatstroke. Even in temperatures as low as 60°F, the inside of a car can overheat quickly.
1 in 4 hot car deaths happen when kids get into cars and can’t get out. Prevent heatstroke: Always lock your car and keep keys out of children’s reach.

Drivers: Slow down for cyclists and pass with caution, leaving as much space as possible. Try to leave at least three feet of space. Yield to cyclists, as you would yield to pedestrians.
Cyclists: Ride in bike lanes if available, otherwise ride with the flow of traffic and on the right side of the road.

Motorcyclists don’t always slow down using the brakes, so you may not see brake lights. Allow more following distance behind motorcycles and always watch for changes in traffic!

Be seen! Wearing retroreflective and bright clothing, in combination with reflectors and lights on your bike will help drivers see you better. This is vital if you choose to ride in the evening or after sunset.

The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office urges citizens to remove all valuable items from their vehicles at night. The Pleasant View area has recently experienced a rash of vehicle burglaries.
If you observe any suspicious activity, especially during nighttime hours, please contact the Sheriff’s Office at 615-792-2098.
