We've been amazed at the continued community response to our Get Involved series here at Buncombe County Election Services. In preparation for this year’s 2026 General Election, we've hosted a series of information sessions for poll workers, poll observers, and those interested in the elections process.

Tonight's (Sep. 1) Poll Observer Information Session will close out the series beginning at 5:30 p.m. at 35 Woodfin St., Asheville, NC in the basement board room

Site-specific and at-large poll observers are assigned by each political party for the county. Only observers appointed in advance by a political party may be inside a polling place. Learn these and other important guidelines tonight.

Sample ballots are ready !! 🗳️🚨

Sample ballots for Buncombe County voters are now available for review in person or online. Visit our Elections homepage and select ‘View My Sample Ballot”. You can also visit the Elections homepage Services office at 35 Woodfin St. in Asheville. Voters may bring printed sample ballots to the polls to help them with selection.

Buncombe County Election Services was out at United for Youth event in Asheville on Friday. Folks, even our youngest future voters, "voted" for dogs or cats in a mock election, made their own 'I Voted' buttons, learned about the paid student poll worker assistant program, and learned about voter registration.

Join Buncombe County Election Services and play a key role in supporting our community’s democratic process.
 
This position is the go‑to resource for potential candidates and elected officials, with critical responsibilities like:
• Overseeing campaign finance and candidate filing
• Auditing campaign finance reports and helping candidates and treasurers compile accurate filings
• Creating campaign finance and filing materials
• Processing petitions with precision and accountability
• Educating candidates and treasurers on candidate filing and campaign finance requirements through training, guidance, and outreach
• Leading the provisional voting process, including training seasonal staff and handling all review procedures
 
💼 Hiring Range: $29.51–$34.96
📚 Associate degree + related experience required
🌟 NC Elections Administrator certification preferred
