We are a county chapter of the Progressive Caucus of the North Carolina Democratic Party and we envision a transparent government that works for the equity and empowerment of all people. We promote the most progressive parts of the Democratic National Committee platform, such as getting money out of politics, health care, living wage, and higher education for all. Recognizing that the North Caroli
na Democratic Party has committed itself to the principles of equal opportunity of participation in the political process and of fair representation at every level of state activity, we organize with the intention of advising and assisting the Buncombe Democratic Party and PC/NCDP on issues which North Carolinians in Buncombe face, and help to develop solutions which it can best fulfill the needs of all Buncombe residents. As Democrats, we seek a truly just society – a society that values people over money inside and outside of the Democratic Party. We will collectively and individually work through the NCDP, Buncombe Democratic Party, as well as the county/district chapters in the PC/NCDP to eradicate all forms of discrimination. We will work toward the realization of a State in which social equity and a respect for individual dignity prevail. A Progressive holds unified values including, but not limited to the following:
