QUARTERLY HANDS-ON TRAINING OPPORTUNITY!

This is a great opportunity to learn more about the natural gas system, recognize hazards in the field, and better understand our role as first responders when responding to natural gas emergencies.

The training will include one hour of classroom education followed by one hour of hands-on training, providing participants the opportunity to take what they learn in the classroom and apply it in a practical environment.

• Properties of Natural Gas
• Natural Gas Equipment in the Field
• Leak/Damaged Line Response
• Your Role as a First Responder

HIRING NOTICE:

Reynolds Volunteer Fire Department is currently seeking candidates for the position of Firefighter/Engineer (Full Time).

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: (GENERAL):

*Responds to fire and emergency calls by completing fire suppression activities for residential and commercial structures, vehicles, rubbish, and grass areas, operating apparatus, removing hazards from emergency scenes, rescuing persons from fire and emergency scenes, utilizing fire extinguishing and extraction equipment to suppress fires and documenting actions when appropriate.

*Provides basic emergency medical services by responding to emergency site, assessing the medical needs of patients, determining best immediate basic treatment, administering life support, utilizing trained medical skills, operating life-saving equipment, lifting and moving patients and extricating patients as necessary, assisting patients for transport to emergency centers, completing medical reports, stocking medical supplies, and documenting all services provided.

* Maintains fire-fighting equipment and fire station property by performing preventative maintenance on equipment and machinery, ensuring apparatus is operating properly and safely, determining if problematic or faulty parts exist, replacing faulty parts.

* Educates the community about fire safety by responding to citizens inquiries and questions on fire safety, presenting fire safety tips to local schools and businesses, demonstrating appropriate personal actions during fires or emergencies, illustrating proper fire extinguisher use and first aid procedures and assisting with public tours of the fire station when necessary.

* Educates the community of child passenger safety by responding to citizens request for education and by maintaining a certification in this field.

* Maintains current medical and firefighting certifications by participating in continuing education related to medical, firefighting, driving and computer skills and completing appropriate paperwork for training received.

* Maintains fire station property by performing interior and exterior building maintenance such as mowing lawn, assisting with fire station cleaning activities and documenting maintenance actions when appropriate.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes in relation to firefighting skills. High school diploma or GED required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position is categorized as very heavy work exerting over one hundred pounds occasionally, fifty-one hundred pounds frequently, or up to twenty-fifty pounds constantly. Physical demands will include, but not limited to standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, twisting, climbing, balancing, foot control, visual acuity, hearing, and talking. The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, chemicals, and oils. Must be physically able to fight fire on an interior level.

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, AND WORK AIDS:

Apparatus, tools, medical equipment, flashlights, fire house, hammer, extinguisher, camera, generators, ladders, radio, oxygen, medication, saws, axes, printers, computers, and related software.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

* Possession of N.C. Firefighter I and II

* NC EMT-B

* NCDL with safe driving record- Prefer-
NC Driver Operator

* Be at least 21 years old

* Able to work shift work, to include nights, weekends, overtime as needed and holidays. (Modified LA schedule).

* Become a Child Passenger Safety Technician within 1 year of start date

* No felony record – Must pass
pre-employment criminal background check and if noted a pre-employment drug screening

* Preferred 3 years fire service experience, career, volunteer, or both

EMPLOYMENT BENEFITS:

*AFLAC, 401K, other benefits to be discussed if interviewed.

*Minimum starting pay: $18.00 hourly/
$60,000.00/year
