The Asheville Police Department's social media pages were created to provide access to information about the department. These sites are managed by the Public Relations Unit of the Asheville Police Department. Any communication via this site is considered a public rec
ord. In case of emergency, or if you need police assistance, dial 911. Do not use these pages to report a crime. To report a crime that does not involve an emergency or injuries, call the non-emergency number at 828-252-1110 or visit the Asheville PD Police to Citizen to file a report. Before a user posts on our social media sites, please note that using these sites constitutes acceptance of the following terms:
The Asheville Police Department welcomes every person’s right to express his or her opinion and encourages users to keep comments related to post content. Comments are subject to removal and archiving from this page if they violate the Terms of Use outlined in the City of Asheville’s Social Media Policy. Comments subject to removal and archiving may include, but are not limited to:
• Obscene, indecent, or profane language or pornographic images
• Threats
• Hate speech that is directed toward a protected class, including race, color, creed, religion, ancestry, national origin, s*x, s*xual orientation, gender identity, disability, or age.
• The solicitation, promotion, or endorsement of specific commercial services, products, or entities.
• Comments not on the topic raised for discussion by the City of Asheville or Asheville Police Department.
• Links to any site or content posted by automatic software programs (i.e., “bots”) or spam.
• The promotion or encouragement of illegal activity.
• Personally identifiable information or sensitive personal information.
• Information that compromises the public safety or security of the public or security systems.
• Information that directly interferes with or compromises ongoing investigations, public safety tactics, or the safety of public safety officers.
• Not public City data that may have been obtained through a breach of the City’s data.
• Content that appears to violate the intellectual property of the City or a third party. All comments and messages on these sites are subject to North Carolina Public Records Laws, e-discovery laws, and policies. This is a limited public forum; as such please do not include personal information such as your or others’ address, Social Security number, or any other information that is not available to the general public. Comments posted by others on the Asheville Police Department page do not represent the opinions or views of the City of Asheville or the Asheville Police Department. Neither the City of Asheville nor the Asheville Police Department endorse any third-party comments on this page. Notwithstanding the foregoing, neither the Asheville Police Department or the City of Asheville is obligated to take any action, and the Asheville Police Department and the City disclaim any and all responsibility and liability for materials deemed inappropriate for posting which cannot be removed in an expeditious and otherwise timely manner.
