Yesterday, we celebrated the retirement of a VERY GOOD BOY after years of dedicated service, unmatched loyalty, and steadfast commitment to keeping the City of Asheville safe!

This past weekend we celebrated National Police Woman Day.

𝐀𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐓𝐰𝐨 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠

Asheville, NC (September 14, 2026): Asheville Police Department Detectives charged two people for a shooting in April that left one person with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

APD officers responded to a residence on Atkinson Street to investigate a report of a gunshot wound victim around 3:29 p.m. on April 26th. Prior to arrival, officers learned the victim had been transported to Mission Hospital for treatment by a third party. Once on the scene, officers and forensics technicians located evidence of the shooting, including multiple shell casings and several vehicles damaged by gunfire.

On September 8th, APD officers, Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department IGRANT Unit, State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), and the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) located and arrested Lamon Tyrik Smith Jr. (09/07/2006). Smith was charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill or Inflict Serious Injury, Possessing a Weapon of Mass Destruction, Attempted First Degree Murder, Felony Conspiracy, and Injury to Personal Property.

Further investigation led detectives to identify another individual involved in the incident: Danvonte Pearson (11/21/2009).

The Asheville Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating Pearson, who is described as a 16-year-old light-skinned old black male, 5’8”, with short black hair and a tattoo above his right eye. Pearson is considered armed and dangerous.

Antes de llegar, los oficiales se enteraron de que un tercero había trasladado a la víctima al Hospital Mission para recibir atención médica. Una vez en el lugar, los oficiales y los técnicos forenses localizaron evidencia del tiroteo, incluyendo múltiples casquillos de bala y varios vehículos dañados por los disparos.

El 8 de septiembre, oficiales del APD, la Unidad IGRANT del Departamento del Alguacil del Condado de Buncombe, la Oficina de Investigación del Estado (SBI) y el Servicio de Alguaciles de EE. UU. Asheville, NC (September 11, 2026): Asheville Police Department (APD) Officers arrested a convicted felon with a firearm and drugs on Thursday evening in west Asheville.

APD officers responded to investigate a motor vehicle crash in the 200 block of Emma Road around 7:36 p.m.on September 10th. When officers arrived, they located a vehicle with front-end damage. The driver told officers another vehicle swerved into his lane, causing the crash, and that the other driver fled on foot. Officers located the second vehicle and spoke with the passenger, later identified as LaDarrell Antwain Mashburn (09/02/1979). During the investigation, officers determined that Tania Lashae Conley (10/30/1996) had been driving the vehicle and fled on foot after the crash.

As the investigation progressed, Mashburn was found to be in possession of a trafficking amount of narcotics and a firearm. He was taken into custody without incident.
