In collaboration with our local governments and community stakeholders, FBRMPO is inviting the public to comment on the draft "Hellbender Regional Trail Plan". This plan knits together the various bicycle, pedestrian, and greenway plans developed in our region to illustrate existing and planned trails that may someday connect to form a regional network that provides a safe place for people to walk and bike. Check out the draft plan on the MPO website, find the link below. Comments may be sent in by Friday, August 21st via the google doc form on the website or by emailing [email protected]

TRAFFIC ALERT: I-40 is closed in both directions near Asheville at Exit 7, Cold Springs Road, due to a rock slide. The road is expected to reopen Saturday. Hot off the press! $1.5 million has been set aside by NCDOT to fund the Safe Routes to School Program. This funding helps communities develop creative programs to educate children and parents about safely walking and bicycling to school.
