September 15th is National Voter Registration Day 🗳

The library is your one-stop-shop in preparation for Election Day! We can help you check your registration online to to ensure your information is updated and correct. We also have paper Voter Registration forms at the desk, and from Sept. 14th through the 19th, you can drop them off at the library to be returned to Election Services. Starting October 15th, we will be an Early Voting location!

September is also Library Card Sign-Up Month! All you need is your picture ID (driver's license, passport, or state ID) and proof of residence in Buncombe County (a piece of mail, a bill, a lease, even something digital).

Take advantage of your inalienable rights! Come visit us at the library!

Congratulations to everyone who completed the 2026 Summer Reading Challenge!! We tallied your bingos and activity sheets, and a whopping 2,445 readers across the county finished the challenge!

It's almost Fall, y'all!

West Asheville Library is normally closed on Mondays - so we will be closed for Labor Day. We'll still have normal hours on Saturday the 5th and Tuesday the 8th.

However, Pack Memorial Library (which is normally open Monday to Friday) will be closed on Monday, September 7th.

Summer reading is almost over! The last day to submit your bingo or activity sheets at the West Asheville branch is September 2nd (that's next Wednesday!).

Reminder that adults can complete up to three rows of bingo for three chances to win the grand prize! And each branch will be drawing for a separate grand prize.

If you haven't already heard, Dolly Parton passed away this morning at the age of 80.

Dolly Parton has been a staunch supporter of underprivileged kids and young readers everywhere. Her charity, the Imagination Library, provides a book every month to a child from birth to their fifth birthday. Imagination Library books often make their way to library shelves for a second life!

If you are interested in registering your child for the Imagination Library, you can go on their website and click "Check Availability" at the top of the screen.

The library loves you, Ms. Dolly! Rest in peace 💜
