April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, and all month long we will be spotlighting our incredible volunteers. We are kicking things off with Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community! More than 25 years ago, Deerfield residents gathered to cook a Thanksgiving dinner for homebound seniors in our community, a tradition they have repeated year after year. Each week, Deerfield residents deliver meals and ensure our neighbors never have to face the day without a meal and a friendly visit.

Our office got a serious spring glow-up! Mission Hospital came out to help with beautification, Lowe's Home Improvement on Smokey Park Highway donated two pallets of mulch, and one of our amazing volunteers helped deliver it all. 🌱 We're mulch obliged!

Kimberly, a senior on our Enka Candler route, wanted to say thank you in the most thoughtful way imaginable. She purchased a chef's toque and had it engraved with Chef Todd's name — a beautiful tribute to the care he puts into every meal.

🎂 Every birthday deserves a little celebration, and our volunteers deliver birthday bags to homebound seniors so no one has to mark the day alone.

We are grateful for the support of Charities! 🧡🛒 Their generous gift will provide food for more than 1,500 meals for homebound seniors right here in our community, including neighbors in South Asheville and North Asheville.

After 18 years and more than 10,000 meals delivered on the Oakley route, Bill has officially retired from volunteering with us and we are in awe of what he has given. Every one of those meals reached a homebound neighbor because Bill loaded up his basket and hit the road, year after year, in every season. Thank you, Bill. 💙
