Rondell Lance for Sheriff

Law Enforcement training at A.B. Rondell's career in law enforcement spanned from 1988 until he retired with 26 1/2 years of service with Asheville Police Department. During his career in law enforcement, Rondell achieved experience in many different assignments. Rondell served 6 years as a Vice Detective, 3 years as a Drug Agent with t

he Metropolitan Enforcement Group where he was also sworn as a Deputy Sheriff giving him county wide jurisdiction. Rondell was promoted to Sergeant and worked downtown on the bike team as well as district cover Sergeant and field training Sergeant. He continued on night shift in the West Asheville district. Rondell also served on Crisis Negotiation Team and was selected as commander of the team where he served until he retired. Rondell also serves as President of the Fraternal Order of Police and is on his 20th year as president. His heritage of service runs deep in his family as his great grandfather and grandfather both served Buncombe County as Constables in Upper and Lower Hominy area. His father, Dr. RH Lance, was a pastor and missionary before his passing two years ago. Rondell continues his service through the Fraternal Order of Police and many youth programs to build relationships between the youth of Buncombe County and Law Enforcement.
