The Western North Carolina VA Health Care System includes the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville and VA Clinics in Forest City, Franklin and Hickory. We consider it our privilege to serve your health care needs in any way we can. Services are available to more than 100,000 veterans living in a 19-county area of Western North Carolina. The Medical Center is named in honor of Medal of Honor recipient and member of the Cherokee Nation Charles George. This page provides a forum for learning how VA provides health care, benefits, and burial and memorial services to our nation's Veterans. The purpose of this page is for VA to post and comment on questions and concerns regarding VA's mission, and to allow veterans, service members, their spouses and families the opportunity to dialogue regarding these issues. Please note this page does not exist to provide individual medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. It is not continuously monitored and does not provide emergency services. If you think you may have a medical emergency, call 911 immediately. If you are in emotional crisis, or are concerned about a Veteran or current service member, call the Veterans Crisis Line at 1-800-273-8255 (press "1"). On this page, the CGVAMC aims to create an open discussion and encourages helpful and useful comments regarding the applicable topics. In memory of Dolly Parton, we’re honored to share a heartfelt project created by our CLC Veterans, a group poem and a hand‑crafted butterfly they mailed to her, along with a warm invitation to visit our CLC anytime.

Their creativity reflected the joy, kindness, and connection Dolly inspired in so many.

Today, as we remember her extraordinary spirit, we also celebrate the Veterans who felt moved to reach out to her with this meaningful gesture.

Thank you to our CLC Veterans for reminding us how art, compassion, and community keep inspiration alive.
