American Legion & BSA Presents 2019 Scout Camporee
being held March 29-31. The 2019 Scout Camporee is open to all Scouts ages 10 1/2 and older.
It will be held at Cherokee Scout Reservation, Yanceyville, NC. Registration fee only $15, Earlybird fee is $10 if you register before Dec. 14. Find all the details here:www.bsaonsc.org

My family and I would like to express our GREAT appreciation to all the volunteers and leaders in Uwharrie District. I have been the Executive since July 2014. Many of you stepped up to help me during my transition from Army life to civilian life and it made a big impact on my family and I. I have had a great time working with all the families and Scouts during my time in Uwharrie. We will still be visiting with you at District Pack & Troop events as my boys are still part of the Pack & Troop in Liberty.

I look forward to continue working with you as the Council Program Director and continuing to improve and grow our Camps and year round programs.

Please join me in welcoming Andrew Oliver aboard the team as the Uwharrie District Executive!

He is originally from Farmington, Connecticut and the graduated from University of Tampa in 2010. After Graduation he moved to Chatham, Virgina with his family where he started working at the Boys and Girls Club. He later moved to Asheboro to become the Unit Director at the Boys and Girls Club for 6 years. After leaving the club he became the Volunteer Coordinator of Randolph County United Way. Andrew is excited to join the Old North State Council staff team.

Andrew, we are all excited to have you on as part of the team and look forward to working with you!

We hope everybody had a great Christmas and plans for a good and safe New Years.

For those that have not heard, Effective January 1, 2018; I assume the role as Council Program Director. I will continue to support Uwharrie District until we hire a new professional.

I want to thank each of you for all your help and support over the last 3.5 years. It has been a pleasure getting to know our families and volunteers and sharing the experiences of scouting with our youth.

In my new position, I will continue to enjoy working with you in a different role, but still benefiting our Scouts as best we can.

Thanks again and enjoy the holidays.

Hello everybody!

I hope all of you had a great Christmas and have wonderful plans for the new Year. In the next couple of days you will see several emails from me for “Save the date” of upcoming events, but I wanted to send this out as it is ready.

Please mark your calendars and update your Scouting families so they can prepare! Thanks for all you do and I hope you have a great and wonderful New Years!

Upcoming events:

1) Winter Place registration dates and registrations are open (see www.bsaonsc.org) for more information

2) Greensboro SWARM: Registration Deadline January 13, 2017

3) RECHARTER!!: Due to Council No Later Than January 16th. Please remember that you still have to print your recharter from the online page and have it signed. We need all sheets printed (roster and charter page). Thanks for your help and attention to this process!

4) District Banquet: January 28, 2017 @ 5:00pm. Location will be Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Advance (321 Redland Rd, Advance NC)

5) District Webelos Crossover: March 11, 2017 (Woodfield Fly fish Lake) will start at Dusk. Make coordination now with your Troops if you plan to participate (No Fee and more information to cocme)

6) Uwharrie District Merit Badge College: March 11, 2017 @ Davidson County Community College -Lexington Campus

7) District Spring Camporee: March 24 – March 26, 2017: This event will be hosted at Camp Cherokee. Current plans have shooting sports (long rifles and muzzleloaders) and climbing tower. (Need host Troop!) More to come

8) District Cub Family Encampment/Pinewood Derby: MOVED!! March 31 - April 2, 2017 (NEED Host for event, otherwise will only be Pinewood Derby!!!! Which means NO shooting sports!)

9) Mom & Me: April 28 – 30, 2017 (Indian Lore Theme)
