📢 Important Office Update:

Limited Staffing
Our office will have limited staffing from June 1st through June 5th while most of our team attends the National Training Conference for mandatory continuing education.

During this time, we will have only one Veterans Service Officer (VSO) available in the office.

🎉 Some Great News!
The officer holding down the fort is our newest VSO, who officially received their accreditation just yesterday! Please join us in congratulating Cory Spoor on this major milestone.

What this means for you:
Longer Wait Times: Please expect delays with walk-ins, phone calls, and email responses.
Patience is Appreciated: Our newest VSO will be working incredibly hard to assist everyone. We kindly ask for your patience and kindness during this temporary window.

Non-Urgent Matters: If your request is not time-sensitive, please consider waiting until our full team returns and is caught up.

These type of questions are generally the status a claim or appeal, confirming one of the medical providers contracted through the VA, banking information, id cards, etc.

🇺🇸 Department of Veteran Affairs for Non-Urgent matters is 1-800-827-1000

Thank you for your understanding and for helping us welcome our newest accredited VSO!

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting with Eric Fischer, Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Veteran Community Network, today! 🇺🇸

It was incredible to hear firsthand about the work they are doing as a 501(c)(3) to support our veterans. Organizations like this are the backbone of our community, ensuring those who served have the network and resources they deserve.

If you haven’t heard of them yet, please check out their mission at myvcn.org.

One of the biggest challenges we see right now is veterans being able to afford housing in our community. We know the need is there, and we are committed to finding solutions. 🇺🇸🏠

We are excited to share an upcoming opportunity for local property managers and potential landlords to learn how they can make a difference. Join the 1st Annual North Carolina VA Statewide Housing Symposium!

This virtual event is designed to help you explore ways to partner with the VA to expand housing opportunities for those who served.

Why attend?

Hear real Veteran success stories.
Get critical updates on the HUD-VASH and HCHV programs.

Participate in a Q&A with a current HUD-VASH landlord to hear how the program works in practice.

We are still buzzing from the energy at our Veteran Stand Down! 🇺🇸

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us. We had a fantastic turnout, with an average of nearly 60 veterans and community members stopping by to connect with vital resources.
This event wouldn’t be possible without our incredible community partners:

Our Guests: A sincere thank you to Senator Craven for serving as our guest speaker and to Commissioner Kidd for coming out to show his support.

Going the Distance: We were honored to host PTSD Foundation of America - Camp Hope, who traveled all the way from Texas! Their work with our Veteran Treatment Court participants is truly life-changing.

Fueling the Day: A huge shoutout to Journey Church for providing breakfast and transportation services, and to David Rodison with AmVets Post 905 Asheboro, NC for a fantastic lunch. Keeping everyone fed and getting them to the event is such a vital part of the day!

To our volunteers, vendors, and the incredible team—you did an amazing job. There are so many more who aren't tagged but were so instrumental in this event's success. Seeing our community come together to serve those who served us is what it’s all about.
