We need the publics help. On the night of August 5, 2026, a tractor was stolen from Little River Welding on highway 32 East of Ashdown. The tractor was a TL100A New Holland Tractor with a front end loader. It was stolen between the hours of 9:15P.M and 1:30A.M Thursday morning. An example of the tractor can be seen below. If you have any information, please contact the Little River County Sheriff's Department.

Officers with the Ashdown Police Department and Little River County Sheriffs responded to the Ashdown Schools this morning in response to a medical emergency. No threat to the public or students was present.

There are many scams going around our area and we want to remind everyone of a few safety tips when dealing with these scammers and unknown phone calls.

NEVER give personal information over the phone.

NEVER believe them when they say you have a warrant you need to pay over the phone.

NEVER stay on the phone with them no matter what they tell you.

NO ONE will ever accept payment in the form of gift cards for a legitimate purpose.

If it sounds suspicious, it probably is.

If you receive a call and are worried about the circumstances, please call the office and ask to speak with a deputy. We will be happy to get with you and discuss any concerns that you have,

‼️‼️‼️PRESS REALEASE‼️‼️‼️

On Thursday May 14, 2026 the Little River County Sheriffs Office responded to a report of an adult male attempting to get a child in the vehicle with him. Sergeant Russell Hopkins responded to the scene and spoke with the mother of a 12 year old girl who was involved in the incident. The mother was able to intervene and prevent her child from leaving with the adult male. The adult male fled the scene prior to Sgt. Hopkins arriving. Through an investigation and help from multiple agencies, Sgt Hopkins was able to positively identify 28 year old Jaqualiyan Whitaker of Shreveport Louisiana as the suspect in this case. Whitaker was taken into custody at approximately 12:30am this morning. We at the Little River Sheriffs office would like to give a special thanks to the mother of this child for her vigilance in watching over her child and her quick action. We would like to also extend a special thanks to all the agencies who assisted in apprehending this suspect quickly.

PRESS RELEASE:

The Little over County Sheriffs Office is currently investigating a shooting that took place on highway 71 south of Ashdown. One individual did sustain a non-life threatening injury as a result of the incident. Information is limited at this time and the investigation is ongoing. The suspects responsible for dumping trash have been located thanks to the publics help. The mess is currently being cleaned up and criminal charges are in place. A special thanks to the public for your help in locating them.
