If you’ve visited the Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead State Historic Site near Ash Grove lately, you’ve likely seen the incredible impact of our seasonal powerhouse, Anastasiya Moots!

Since joining us in late 2023, Anastasiya has been a huge help to the Homestead. Whether she’s diving deep into historical archives or keeping the grounds are pristine, she does it all with a smile and unmatched dedication.

Anastasiya’s willingness to jump from stewardship work to educational programming is what keeps the site running smoothly every single day. Because of her hard work, Anastasiya is our Seasonal Masterpiece Award Winner!

Congrats to Holly Welch! She received the Masterpiece Award for her tireless work in making the Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead State Historic Site more inclusive than ever before.

After identifying a need for better accessibility for blind and low-vision visitors, Holly took it upon herself to research and implement NaviLens technology. These specialized codes allow visitors to receive audio information through an app, creating a self-guided, immersive experience.

Holly was the primary driving force behind this project. Her initiative doesn't just benefit her site—it serves as a pilot program for all state parks. We hope Holly’s success inspires others to see how modern technology can preserve and share our history with every citizen.
