A combination of sustained winds between 10 to 15 mph, wind gusts of 20 to 30 mph (35+ mph in the higher terrain) coupled with continued dry conditions and dry fuels will lead to an elevated wildfire danger on Tuesday, especially Tuesday afternoon.

03/28/2026

There is an Elevated Fire Risk Saturday following this weak system today. Lack of significant rainfall and low humidity Saturday will allow fires to catch easier. Winds will trend lighter during the driest part of the day, limiting a larger risk. Outdoor burning should be avoided.

2-23-26 The Fire Danger level has been elevated to HIGH. The BURN BAN remains in effect.

Arkansas will see elevated fire danger statewide on Tuesday due to low relative humidity, above-normal temperatures, and strong winds. We urge all Arkansans to avoid any outdoor burning. Even a small spark can quickly turn into a wildfire under these conditions.

The entire state is currently at a moderate wildfire risk, with several northern and northwestern counties at high risk.

Burn bans are in effect for: Benton, Boone, Carroll, Cleburne, Hempstead, Independence, Johnson, Lafayette, Madison, Searcy, Sharp, Van Buren, and White counties.

Conditions can change quickly. View current fire danger levels and burn ban information here:

Even with the very heavy rain we saw last weekend, its dry out there. Wildfire danger is high to moderate across almost all of Arkansas at this time. More counties are now under burn bans and with no widespread or appreciable precipitation expected in the immediate future, additional burn bans may be issued.
