On Thursday, May 21, 2026, a group of Asbury Park Police Officers participated in a Stop The Bleed training. This class allowed the officers to gain critical, life-saving skills that can make all the difference in an emergency. This hands-on, interactive class reinforced how immediate action, like proper bleeding control, can significantly improve survival outcomes before advanced medical care arrives. The knowledge and confidence gained from this training will directly translate into lives saved within our community. Our goal is to train every officer in Stop The Bleed and equip all of our vehicles with these kits so they can be quickly deployed when an emergency happens.

A special thank you to Tracy Nerney from JSUMC for leading such an engaging and informative session. We are also incredibly grateful for the donation of two Stop The Bleed kits. These kits are essential, but costly, and having them available in the field greatly enhances our ability to respond effectively during emergencies.

Your support is truly appreciated.

On Wednesday, May 20, 2026, The Asbury Park Police Department, Asbury Park Fire Department, and Asbury Park Beach Patrol came together for a joint training exercise focused on keeping our shoreline safe. Under extremely hot conditions, all three agencies worked side by side to review emergency scenarios, coordinate response strategies, and better understand each other’s roles when every second counts.

From water rescues to medical emergencies, the teams trained with one shared goal: ensuring a safe and enjoyable beach season for everyone. The dedication and teamwork on display, even in the heat, highlight the commitment of these professionals to protect our community.

We’re gearing up for a fun and safe summer, and thanks to this collaboration, we’re ready for whatever comes our way.

Yesterday, the Asbury Park Police Department partnered with the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office to host an important Fraud Awareness presentation for our senior community at the Asbury Park Senior Center

Police Officer Chenice Wesley from our Community Relations Unit and Detective Debra of the Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit shared valuable information on the latest scams targeting older adults. Topics included romance scams, deed fraud, phishing schemes, identity theft, and other financial crimes affecting our communities.

We were proud to have Asbury Park Mayor John Moor, Deputy Mayor Amy Quinn, Police Director John B. Hayes, and Captain Lorenzo Pettway in attendance, all demonstrating their commitment to protecting our senior residents through education and awareness.

A special thank you to the Asbury Park Senior Center staff for their continued dedication to community outreach and for helping bring this critical information to those who need it most.

Unfortunately, scams targeting older adults are on the rise, with criminals becoming more sophisticated every day. This presentation focused on recognizing warning signs and taking simple, proactive steps to stay safe.

Remember: STOP - THINK - VERIFY

If something doesn’t feel right, hang up, delete the message, and contact a trusted family member, your bank, or law enforcement before taking action.

Police Director John B. Hayes, and the entire Asbury Park Police Department, are incredibly proud to recognize Officer Richard Thomas and Officer Joseph Swansinger for completing the Police Unity Tour! The Police Unity Tour is a powerful journey where Police Officers, from all across the country, bike ride to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.

This annual ride honors law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and raises funds for the Memorial and Museum. This event as tribute to those who gave their lives and a commitment to ensure their stories are never forgotten.

This marked Officer Thomas's 7th year and Officer Swansinger's 5th year completing the tour, riding for 4-days and over 300 miles from New Jersey to our nation's Capital for this solemn service.

The journey is no easy feat. It demands physical endurance, mental toughness, and unwavering determination. Through long hours on the road, changing weather, and physical exhaustion, Officer Thomas and Officer Swansinger pushed forward with purpose and pride.

We commend their dedication to this meaningful cause and their strength in overcoming the challenges of the ride. Their commitment reflects the very best of our profession and serves as an inspiration to us all.

Thank you, Officer Thomas and Officer Swansinger, for representing our department with honor.
