What a day. Our Raider team worked very hard this year to prepare for the Fresno State Raider Challenge. It was a close race for the top 4 teams with our Bears missing 3rd place by 1 point and ranked 4th for the day. They already have a strategy to unhinge the 11 time champion East Union from Sacramento. Overall our team showed amazing teamwork and grit. We even saw one of our former cadets Lizette Gomez who is in her last year at Fresno State and will graduate debt free because she chose to the ROTC path to achieve this goal. Our Bears are awesome!

Bear Battalion robotics team hard at work. First ever competition down in San Diego.. definitely a learning experience for our cadets. They had a great time and focused on making the nationals in Dallas, Texas next year.. It was a four day excursion and a lot of first time things for our cadets. They even got to tour the USS Midway aircraft carrier and one of the cadets was coined the boss of the aircraft carrier.! Great times and now it’s time to head back and prepare for the next trip to Reno Nevada for a drone competition. Great job cadets.. Arvin High bear pride.

Good morning, just wanted to share a few photos of our 5-day camp at Camp San Luis Obispo, CA. This year we were able to take 69 cadets and aside from a few bruises and blisters, our cadets performed amazing. They marched and sang cadence for a whopping 35 miles. Most of our feet still hurt a little 😊. They had to maneuver a very challenging obstacle course, work together as a team in order to complete the Leaders Recon Course, face their fear of highs while climbing a 50-foot rock wall and rappelling off the side of a cliff roughly 60 feet high. There were a few tears on the rappel course, but most pushed through and defeated that fear. Our cadets DETERMINATION was evident at every crossroads. Our cadet leadership worked through tasks, managed time, communicated with other school leadership, executed operational plans, self-care and care for others, problem solving, and instilled self and organizational PRIDE! We really had an amazing time. They also had to wake up very early, sweep and mop the barracks, clean toilets, take out the trash, make their bed, do their own laundry, and have a great attitude the entire time. Thank you for all for your support and donations throughout the year. Last, I would like to thank Laura Liera and Araceli Hernandez, our amazing chaperones, you two are awesome. Also, Brian Finn joined us for a few days as a chaperone and experienced what our camp is all about. Thank you all. Last and definitely not least, our very own Senior Army Instructor SGM Gary Ortega. He was the camp commander and coordinated every aspect of the camp from chow, training areas, trainers, buses, barracks to contacts at the urgent care if there were a need, and the list goes on. He not only coordinated for Arvin but 4 other schools as well (Fresno HS, McClane HS, Seaside HS, South HS). 240 cadets, 10 Instructors, 14 recruiters / Subject Matter Experts, 10 chaperones. Great Job Brother. Looking forward to next year. We are almost to the finish line! Have a great day all. Hooah! 1SG

Huge shoutout to our AHS Alumni and our cadets. A big part of JROTC is about selfless service and giving back. Over the last couple of months JROTC has been selling popcorn and hot chocolate at the football games with a goal of donating $3000 to Honor Flight Kern County. On December 7 we did just that and were able to send 2 Kern County veterans to Washington DC all expenses paid. on December 8 our alumni donated some amazing gifts to be raffled off at our annual JROTC family Christmas gathering where families enjoyed a spaghetti dinner, desserts, Christmas music, and a special visit from Santa Claus. The gifts donated by the alumni made it extra special. You are all amazing and we appreciate everything you do for the program. I wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year. 1SG L
