When our February AHS Newsletter was published, the Historical Society was planning on holding a Supper on April 11th, however, due to unforeseen circumstances, we were not able to schedule any dates in April. We wanted to make certain that everyone was informed of this change.

To make up for this, we are planning to hold a Bean & Pasta Supper on Saturday, May 2nd and another at the end of May on Saturday, May 30th.

As always, we appreciate your support and hope to see you at our next supper on May 2nd!

SUPPER POSTPONED - Due to the forecast of rain & snow mixtures for Friday and Saturday, the members of the AHS have decided to POSTPONE the Baked Bean & Pasta Supper to our SNOW date of Saturday, March 21.

We do not feel comfortable taking any chances of black ice with this time of year as none of us are getting younger! We want to keep everyone safe!

Thank you in advance for supporting us and we hope to see you on March 21st, weather permitting!

Arundel's Heritage Cane

The Arundel Historical Society created Arundel's Heritage Cane in 2022 to honor the town's oldest resident using guidelines similar to the "Boston Cane" which originated in 1909. The Society is in the process of locating a new recipient. If you know of a family member or neighbor that is at least 90 years of that might qualify, please contact us no later than February 2nd at 282-9699 or email [email protected]. Below is listed the criteria that is followed to award the Cane.

Policy for Presentation to Arundel’s Oldest Citizen

· The recipient of the Cane will be determined by nomination by the Society or by an individual who has knowledge of the recipient. In either case, the recipient’s age will be verified.

· The recipient shall be a legal citizen of the United States.

· The recipient shall have been a resident of the Town of Arundel for a minimum of 20 consecutive years.

· The recipient may currently reside in an assisted living facility or similar residence outside of Arundel for up to 3 years prior to the presentation of the Cane.

· Final determination of each eligible recipient will be determined by the Arundel Historical Society's Board of Directors.

This Policy has been approved and adopted by the Arundel Historical Society’s Board of Directors.
