The popular Buy Local gift card program aimed at boosting the economy for local businesses in Grover Beach returns this week for its second time after a successful 2021 turnout.

Great news for shoppers and diners in Grover Beach! The popular "Buy Local" gift card program started today. 🎁🎉🎈

When you spend $100 or more at Grover Beach small businesses (in the retail, restaurant, brewery, winery, fitness, and salon/personal services sectors), you can upload your receipts (dated February 1, 2022 or later) and select from a list of participating Grover Beach businesses to receive a free gift card for $25. Current gift card choices include Chameleon Style for the Home, Exfoliate Skin Therapy, Fuego, Grover Station Grill, Heidi's Suite, Jimmy D's Spaghetti Joint, Monarch Grove Winery and Tasting Room, Nan's Pre-Owned Books, Pardon My French Bakery, Rib Line by the Beach, Signature Nails and Spa, St. Barnabas Thrift Shop, and Trinity Cyclery. More choices will be added as Grover Beach businesses join the Buy Local gift card program.

For this second round of the Buy Local program, the City of Grover Beach will purchase up to twenty $25 gift cards from each qualified local business that is selected, up to a total of $500. Grover Beach businesses can still apply to participate to take advantage of the generous gift card funding and promotional opportunities. Visit Grover Beach, the new tourism brand for the City of Grover Beach, was recently named a finalist in the Visit California Poppy Awards for Best Overall Destination Brand Identity (under $1 Million). 🎉🎈

The Visit California Poppy Awards honor the best and brightest of California tourism promotion and take place at the 2022 Visit California Outlook Forum on February 15, 2022, in San Francisco. Poppy Award recipients are chosen by expert judges from the tourism industry. The two other California destinations named as finalists in this category are North Lake Tahoe Marketing Cooperative and Visit Eureka.

Thanks to DANA Adobe & Cultural Center in Nipomo for hosting the Chamber's Membership Mixer yesterday evening. The DANA Adobe is a unique, historic landmark (restored adobe built in 1837), cultural center, venue, and gallery. Guests who arrived early enjoyed docent-led tours of the adobe. A special thanks to Epic Entertainment for providing music and sound for this special event.

Judy Mahan, Economic Development Director for Cal Poly Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CIE), will be the main speaker. Judy runs the CIE Incubator and Small Business Development Center (SBDC) programs. In addition, the SLO County District Attorney’s office will share the latest information on workers’ compensation insurance fraud to help local businesses. Captive Hearts in Grover Beach will present a Business Highlight about their nonprofit organization and upcoming events.

A full breakfast will be served by the hotel: scrambled eggs, crispy potatoes, sausage, bacon, overnight oats, pastries, fruit, juice, coffee, and tea. Complimentary valet parking will be available for all breakfast guests. Music and sound will be provided by Epic Entertainment.
