Tonight, members of Banksville Independent Fire Department were recognized for their tremendous efforts and prehospital care, which ultimately led to the survival of a patient in our district who suffered from a cardiac arrest back in July.

On July 29th 2025, BIFD was dispatched for an Echo-level response — the highest priority in emergency medical dispatch — for a report of "CPR in progress."

Thanks to the guidance provided over the phone by our partners at of 60 Control / Uniformed Dispatchers Association , a community member began CPR prior to our arrival. With the quick response of EMTs & Firefighters from Banksville FD , Armonk Fire Department , EMS and the North Castle Police Department , the patient not only survived but was able to return to the Banksville Fire Department tonight to meet the members who responded.

BIFD awarded two lifesaving awards tonight to:
Lieutenant G. Kottoor
Deputy Chief W. Watson

BIFD awarded one civilian award to Jason Tobon for starting lifesaving CPR prior to the arrival of first responders.

BIFD awarded 6 of our members a Unit Citation for outstanding teamwork & coordination during this response:
A. Farquhar
G. Kottoor
R. Farquhar
A. Levy
M. Pugni
W. Watson

What an honor it was for all BIFD members to be able to reconnect with this patient!

This past week, Banksville Fire Department participated in a multi-agency training exercise hosted by the Bedford Hills Fire Department. The drill focused on water supply operations, an essential skill for departments that often respond to areas without traditional hydrant access.

Alongside our partners from Katonah Fire Department and Pound Ridge Volunteer Fire Department , members worked on drafting and establishing a fill site from a dry hydrant and tanker shuttle operations, moving and circulating water from a remote source to simulate continuous fireground supply

Thank you to Bedford Hills FD for hosting and to all agencies who participated.

Thank you to for providing us with one of the vehicles we have used for training this past month. We are always looking for donated vehicles to continue training - reach out to us or if you have a car to donate.
