Alright folks, we are being told it’ll be slicker than Diddy’s floor out there this weekend. Please make sure you are prepared if you plan to travel. Dialing 911 is not a resource for road conditions, so make sure you stick to the news and social media for that information. Be safe everyone.

❗️❗️❗️Howdy folks, we just want to remind you that speed limits are not suggestions. ❗️❗️❗️
An Officer with the Arma Police Department stopped this vehicle for traveling 93mph in a posted 55mph zone Sunday morning on 69 Highway(this individual was not the only one, or even the fastest). A warning was not issued.
We at the Arma Police Department have received a substantial amount of complaints from the citizens of our community in regards to folks not wanting to slow down through this small stretch of our City Limits, and we take that seriously.
We want to not only make sure our citizens of our community are safe while trying to cross or enter the highway, but to make sure folks are getting to where they need to go safely.
No, this is not a speed trap, and simply it’s not much of an ask to slow 10mph for approximately a mile. Arrive alive this holiday season, and please slow down.

🇺🇸 VETERANS DAY 🇺🇸

Somewhere along the way, people started treating freedom like it was automatic.
Like it just shows up every morning with the sunrise.
Like it was always promised, always guaranteed, always safe.

But we know better.
Especially here in Arma.

In this town, we know the truth:
Freedom is paid for — in sweat, in silence, in sacrifice, in blood.

We know what it looks like when someone leaves home young and comes back older than their years.
We know the weight behind a folded flag handed to shaking hands.
We know the emptiness of the seat that used to be filled at Christmas.
We know the thousand-yard stare that says a veteran has seen what the rest of us pray we never will.

And somewhere out there, people have started to forget that.

Not here.
Not in Arma.

This town is built on the backs of men and women who stood the line so the rest of America could live free.
Our freedom was not handed to us.
It was defended by the people who called this place home.

And one of those people stands among us still:
Chief John Austin.
He didn’t just serve — he shouldered the weight, carried it, and brought it home with him.
And even now, he keeps serving.
Because that’s what real service looks like.
Quiet. Solid. Unshakable.

So today, to Chief Austin and to every veteran in this town and across this nation:

We see you.
We remember you.
We honor you.
We will not let your sacrifices be forgotten or ignored.

If you cherish waking up in a country where you can pray how you want, speak how you want, live how you want, and raise your family how you choose —
then you owe a thank you to a veteran.

Say it. Mean it. Teach it.

Freedom isn’t free.
It never has been.
And in Arma —
we don’t forget the ones who paid for it.

🇺🇸 Happy Veterans Day. 🇺🇸

We were able to watch some of the great staff at the Arma Fire Department/ Crawford County Fire District #2 while they were training today. And of course we stayed for a bowl of chili.

🎃👻 Halloween Safety Tips from the Arma Police Department! 👻🎃

Alright folks, it’s that spooky time again — ghosts, goblins, and about 200 kids dressed as Spider-Man running around town. Before you dive into the candy bowl, here are a few reminders to keep Halloween fun and safe:

🚸 Watch those crosswalks. Kids move faster than Chief Austin after someone says “free donuts.” Slow down and keep your eyes peeled.

💡 Light it up. Reflective tape, flashlights, glow sticks — if you look like a walking disco ball, you’re doing it right.

🍫 Inspect the loot. Check all candy before letting the kiddos dig in. If it looks sketchy, toss it (or bring it to the station — we’ll “inspect” the chocolate for you). 😉

🎭 Be courteous. Not every house participates — porch lights off means no tricks or treats.

🚨 Know your neighborhood. Before heading out, parents can check the Kansas Registered Offender website to see if any registered s*x offenders live nearby. It’s a great way to plan safe trick-or-treat routes.

Have fun, be smart, and let’s make sure everyone ends the night with full candy bags and no police reports.
