Lowered Appraisal District valuations provide lower revenue, though small increases are proposed for residents’ water, sewer and garbage collection rates.

This was briefly discussed in our afternoon city council meeting August 4th. Mayor Ross and I feel like those of us voting on it shouldn’t get the higher pay and the new salaries should be in the part-time range. Mayor Ross mentioned $20,000/yr. I’m thinking somewhere in the $12,000to $24,000 range. This would cover the miscellaneous expenses that we are not compensated for like gas, mileage, etc. We do get pretty good perquisites that other cities can’t offer such as access to city suites at Globe Life and AT&T Stadiums when they are available. (It was not available for the World Cup Games, darn it!)

So, what do you think?

Officials proposed pay increases to begin after standing council members have left office.

If you’ve ever wondered about what goes on at the GM Assembly Plant in Arlington, here ya go. I, some other council members and a bunch of other folks toured the plant on a family tour day. Thanks to Mayor Vandergriff for bringing it here and Mayor Greene for keeping it here! GM’s most profitable plant! If you drive a Tahoe or Suburban it was made here in Arlington!
